Goldenseal

Infection Fighter, Lowers Blood Sugar, Diabetes

One of the most popular infection-fighting for years. It's antibiotic effect comes from its two major alkaloids, berberine and hydrastine which have been used to combat a wide variety of infections. It has been shown to be effective against staph, strep and E. coli bacteria. The bitter, astringent alkaloids normalize liver and spleen functions by increasing the production of digestive fluids and enzymes, particular bile. Assists digestion and improves appetite.

Its astringent effect makes it helpful as bitter tonic to tone mucous membranes. Especially good for gastric disturbances, painful digestion, nosebleeds, hemorrhages and bleeding such as from pelvic tissues. Eliminates all catarrh conditions, even chronic in intestines.

Excellent for cleansing the eye and treating conjunctivitis. (Tea or eyewash - Use one teaspoon per cup boiling water; cool before using as eyewash)
