When I was ill with my kidney stone in 1985, my grandmother cooked me what my family calls "Brodo". This broth helped me recover my strength very rapidly. I thought I would share it in case you know of anyone who has been ill, has lost a lot of weight, and/or is extremely fatigued. The following is a traditional family recipe for people suffering from fever, flu, indigestion, to rebuild stamina, iron, increase energy.

Ingredients:

1 Pkg. Beef Shank or Rib
1 Yellow Onion
1 Carrot
2-3 Stalks Celery
2-3 Sprigs Parsley
2-3 Spoons Tomato Sauce or 6 oz Tomato Juice
Salt to taste

Put in 5 qt Dutch oven and cover with water. Boil 2-3 hours. Strain and consume liquid. You can use part of it to cook fine noodles or cream of wheat. Person can consume all ingredients if desired. When cold, skim congealed fat off the top and throw it away.
