Lyme Disease

This year will be a very bad year for ticks, I have been treated once for Lyme disease, and it is not all that fun. If you do get a tick bite and it appears to be a deer tick saving the tick and having it tested is a much better route to go than the six week course of treatment. It takes six weeks for you to be able to show a positive test, and at least another six weeks of treatment. The following info is worth saving.

We do a tick test for B. burgdorferi (causative agent of Lyme disease) by PCR technique. The cost is $49.00. You can put the tick or ticks (up to 20) in a small sealable container, plastic baggy is good. Put a small damp cotton ball or paper towel inside. Mail a check for $49 and the tick to 797 San Antonio Road, Palo Alto, CA 94303. Please put "TT" on outside of envelope. We will mail a result back to you within a week or two. You can contact us at 800/832-3200 if you have any other questions.
