Sleep aid to rest your body clock

Melatonin is a hormone secreted by the pineal gland (and possibly eye tissue) when it gets dark. We produce decreasing quantities as we get older. Artificial lights, stimulant beverages and stress can disrupt normal body rhythms. Thus melatonin supplements can be very helpful for jet lag or occasional insomnia. Because it can cause drowsiness, it should only be used shortly before bedtime. If you have unusually vivid dreams, you can use less.

Research is indicating that declining Melatonin may play a role in signaling the body to age and that Melatonin may function as an antioxidant and immune booster. Many feel that there is not enough research as it is too soon to recommend melantonin for uses other than an occasional sleep aid and melatonin should not be given to children or pregnant/lactating women.

NSP melatonin is synthetic. This is typical and not an issue. Melatonin contains 1 mg melatonin with no other active ingredients. Melatonin Extra contains 3 mg melatonin, ginkgo Biloba concentrate (24% glycosides), ginkgo Biloba leaves, Siberian ginseng. Both products also include 30 IU vitamin E as a preservative.
