Putting "Meat" on the Bones

This formula treats a condition known in Chinese medicine as a "damp spleen", a term requiring a little translation for our Western minds. In Chinese medicine, the spleen represents the body's ability to turn food into flesh. It is the power of the digestive tract to break down protein and for the metabolic processes to build up blood and muscle tissue.

So, this of this as a formula for someone whose digestive "fire" has had a "wet blanket" thrown over it. Not only is their digestion poor, but their body lacks muscle tone. They are thin and anemic (pale) and can't seem to build up any muscle mass. If you examine their tongue you probably find it is pale with a thick white coating.

This formula contains the tonics ginseng, astragalus, atractylodes, dong quai and licorice. It "warms up" the digestive function, helps to build up the blood and aids the process of generating warmth and muscle mass in the body, i.e, "meat on your bones".

So, if you're one of those skinny types, with cold limbs and poor digestion, this tonic might be just right for you. Along with two to three capsules of UC-C at each meal, try some Proactazyme or Food Digestive Enzymes.
