Allergy Relief

5/9/2023

Picture
With allergy season in full swing, be prepared with Nucleic's Liposomal C.

Contrary to popular belief, Vitamin C is not an immune system "booster". We do not want to "boost the immune system", as this can cause unfavorable side effects, such as inflammation and worsening allergy load.

Vitamin C, especially in a Liposome, has been shown to regulate or "modulate" the immune system. Modulation of immunity is key, as it up-regulates lowered immunity and down-regulates heightened immunity. Think immune system adaptogen!

Most practitioners of other brands use 5000 IU to 10,000 IU of Vitamin C to get a response. The Liposomal activity cuts this in half, as it bypasses the alimentary canal where most brands are lost. Practitioners have reported good outcomes in acute cases using a dosage of 4 teaspoons of Nucleic Liposomal C.

Just another way Nucleic gets you to the core, to the Nucleus.

Here's why Liposomal Vitamin C should be part of your Apothecary this allergy season.
  • Vitamin C helps inactivate  Histamine and Mast Cell reactions.
  • Targeted Liposomes help delivery, going exactly to receptors that need inactivation such as TH1 and TH2
  • Bronchial Hypersensitivity Inactivation (Asthma, Reactive Airway Etc.).

Areas of Research
  • Immuno-Modulation
  • Allergies
  • Degenerative Conditions
  • Epinephrine/Dopamine Regulation
  • Neuronal Antioxidant (Stroke, TBI, Memory)

Vitamin C and Liposomal Technology Vitamin C has multiple beneficial physiological effects. These include antioxidant properties, synthesis of catecholamines, formation of collagen, facilitation of iron absorption, and support with the processing of many hormones, enzymes, and amino acids. In a recent clinical study, it was demonstrated that oral delivery of Liposomal Vitamin C produced circulating concentrations of vitamin C greater than those elicited by oral delivery of Non-Liposomal Vitamin C and has the added ability to cross through the Blood Brain Barrier.

Immuno-Modulation Vitamin C affects various aspects of the immune process. Its high concentration in leukocytes, its rapid utilization during infection, and its depression in clinical situations associated with reduced immunologic function have suggested a role for the vitamin in the immune response. There is evidence that Vitamin C is involved in several neutrophil functions, including chemotactic responses, phagocytosis, hexose monophosphate shunt activity, myeloperoxidase function, and cyclic GMP levels.

Degenerative Conditions Research suggests that high-dose vitamin C kills degenerative cells. New studies show some degenerative cells with low levels of catalase enzyme activity are much less capable of removing hydrogen peroxide formed by vitamin C, than normal cells, and are more susceptible to damage and death when they are exposed to high doses of vitamin C.

Norepinephrine/Dopamine Regulation Vitamin C functions as a neuromodulator for dopamine and norepinephrine. A deficiency of Vitamin C is associated with significant increases in dopamine levels and similar relative decreases in norepinephrine because normal amounts of dopamine could not be metabolized into norepinephrine. Liposomal Vitamin C is capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier to regulate dopamine and nor-epinephrine levels.

Neuronal antioxidant support Studies show Vitamin C is a vital antioxidant. Vitamin c has shown promise in its high antioxidant role against ischemic stroke, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Huntingdon's disease.

Stroke Several studies found that a low vitamin C status in humans is associated with increased mortality rates from stroke, and plasma Vitamin C concentrations are decreased in stroke and critically ill patients. This data on antioxidant depletion suggests that there is significant oxidative stress associated with brain injury.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Oxidative stress is linked with many psychiatric conditions including PTSD. Vitamin C has successfully attenuated memory impairment and all changes observed in oxidative stress markers induced by PTSD.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) TBI is an acquired brain injury that occurs when there is sudden trauma that leads to brain damage. There is evidence that a secondary injury from TBI is specifically related to oxidative stress. By incorporating antioxidant support with Vitamin C, clinicians can help attenuate oxidative posttraumatic brain damage and optimize patients' recovery.

Memory In a recent study vitamin C administration successfully attenuated memory impairment and all of the changes observed in oxidative stress markers. Oxidative stress is associated with neuronal damage in many brain regions including the hippocampus; an area in the brain responsible for memory processing.

Ingredients: Ascorbate Acid (Vitamin C), Sodium Ascorbate, Potassium Sorbate, Stevia Leaf Extract (as Glucosylsteviosides), Natural Flavors, Glycerin, Non-GMO Sunflower Lecithin, Purified Water.

Happy Mother's Day to You!!!!

Mother's Day Around the World:
While versions of Mother’s Day are celebrated worldwide, traditions vary depending on the country. In Thailand, for example, Mother’s Day is always celebrated in August on the birthday of the current queen, Sirikit.
Another alternate observance of Mother’s Day can be found in Ethiopia, where families gather each fall to sing songs and eat a large feast as part of Antrosht, a multi-day celebration honoring motherhood.

In the United States, Mother’s Day continues to be celebrated by presenting mothers and other women with gifts and flowers, and it has become one of the biggest holidays for consumer spending. Families also celebrate by giving mothers a day off from activities like cooking or other household chores.

At times, Mother’s Day has also been a date for launching political or feminist causes. In 1968 Coretta Scott King, wife of Martin Luther King Jr., used Mother’s Day to host a march in support of underprivileged women and children. In the 1970s women’s groups also used the holiday as a time to highlight the need for equal rights and access to childcare.

Supplements for the Big Bad C.V.D

4/26/2023

Picture
The big bad C.V.D is still around and will always be around.  Sorry to say that it's not going away any time soon.  We really don't know the truth about how it started.  There are many speculations about it being manufactured in a lab to spreading from animals.  We are being told that it's been found not only in us humans but also deer, dogs, and now possibly cows.  There is information out that that dogs are now being given the "jab" for it and pretty soon cows will be as well.  It's all very scary isn't it?  Trusting anyone with authority on this is questionable because we have not been given the entire truth.  There are too many questions that have been unanswered and too many things that don't make sense or line up.

As far as I'm concerned, the best thing we can do is take care of ourselves in the best way we know how.  To do that,  I highly suggest keeping a few supplements in your cupboard like my family does just in case you end up with C.V.D.  It has come into our office about 4 times now with clients needing help or not knowing they have been exposed to it.  Here are supplements we use:

1.  CellTem Homeopathic Remedy
2.  Influenseg Homeopathic Remedy
3.  Vitamin C
4.  Vitamin D & K
5.  Zinc (need Quercitin to be absorbed)
6.  Quercitin
7.  Olive Leaf Extract
8.  N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC)

We carry these all in our office.  You are welcome to come by to pick them up or call us and we will ship them to you.

If you prefer to order online, you are welcome to order online yourself with these links:

CellTem and Influenseg are homeopathic remedies by Nucleic.  You can order those at this link:  https://www.joyfullivingservices.com/nucleic-products.html

Vitamin C, D&K, Zinc, Quercitin, Olive Leaf Extract, and NAC are Nature's Sunshine products.  You can order those  at this link:
https://www.naturessunshine.com/?referral=220327&offer=NSP

It's always better to be prepared and have these items in your cupboard just in case you need them.

My Other Suggestions:
1.  Be aware of people around you but do not be afraid.
2.  Notice if anyone is coughing around you and stay clear of them.
3.  Be sure to wash your hands throughout the day as this is the best way to stay healthy.
4.  If you wear a mask, only wear it for the day, and then wash it in hot soapy water.
5.  Do not wear the same mask day after day.
6.  Be sure to drink plenty of water (1/2 your weight in ounces) to keep your body hydrated.
7.  Keep your immune system strong by sleeping well.
8.  Go to bed on time and sleep in a dark room.
9.  Go out in the sun at least 15 minutes every day.
10.  Exercise a little bit everyday.
11.  Eat a good healthy, clean, diet free from junk foods and fried foods.
12.  If you need to lose weight, lose it.  This puts a lot of stress on your body.
13.  If you're stressed, drink herbal teas or take supplements to help your body balance.
14.  If you're constipated, eat more fiber or take supplements to open up your elimination.
15.  Live your life the way you want to live it - love who you want to love - be who you want to be.

Let's Talk About Water

Picture
Let’s talk about water

Not only is it a big part of what you are made up of (or should be) but you probably already know 70%+ of the Earth  is covered with water (not to mention what’s underground).

How interesting of God to plan & create this

Ask yourself…how much of your ‘underground’ is made up of water

Most are dehydrated. If you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated.

*How does your skin look
*Do you have brain fog
*How is your digestion
*Eliminating at least once+ a day

These are just a FEW signs your body is lacking in water.

Quick test: Pinch the skin on the back of your hand & let go right away. Did the skin snap back right away If not, you are dehydrated.

Lots of health problems can be helped significantly just by drinking water

A good rule of thumb  is to drink half your weight in ounces of water a day.

How to calculate this: Divide your weight in half to get the number of ounces (example: 150 pounds/2=75 ounces).

Don’t drink this all at once as it can tax the kidneys, will make you have to pee a lot & it will be clear, (should be straw-colored) & won’t hydrate your cells.2-4 ounces every 30 minutes is better.

What kind of water ***NOT from the tap There are too many undissolved solids (TDS = total dissolved solids) for the body to try to clean out before it can get the water out of the solids & hydrate your cells.

Some confuse this with minerals they say we need from our water.

Think of it this way: God’s perfect water cycle creates distilled water:  evaporation,  condensation,  precipitation.

We have, & will always have, the exact same amount of water that has been here since Creation due to this amazing cycle

Distilled is best - don’t get confused by those who say we get minerals from the tap. Not true-they add that ‘stuff’  to the tap water that the body does not recognize & has to clean it up first.

Get your minerals from clean, organic food

Reverse osmosis water is also good.

Carbonated water produces an acidic environment. That turns into inflammation, & can result in pain & other unwanted health symptoms.

Lots to process yet it’s very simple

Let’s talk WATER

Go hydrate

Spotlight on Homeopathy - CellTem Homeopathic Remedy

4/5/2023

Picture
A few times a month I've been writing about an herb, homeopathic remedy, or some type of cleansing product.  Today I'm going to talk about CellTem which is a homeopathic remedy that I've been having great success with.

Cell Metabolism RNA and DNA Fortification and Regulation

Areas of research:
Autism Spectrum/ ADD-ADHD
Cancer/Cell Mutations
Chemical Exposures
DNA and RNA based Vaccination
Genetic Disorders
Radiation Exposure
Cachexia

DNA and RNA are the backbone to life and its expression
Nucleotides are the basic fundamental structures in DNA and RNA. DNA is made of four types of nucleotides, which are linked covalently into a polynucleotide chain (a DNA strand) with a sugar-phosphate backbone from which the bases (Adenine, Cytosine, Guanine, and Thymine). Together these base pairs form a helix structure. When paired, these chains of nucleotides creates a unique set of instructions for every human cell on the planet.

Genes interact with our environment and cancers
As the onslaught on our cells becomes ever compounding due to toxins, stress, EMF, and overall life, it is no mistake that damage to the our genes can become apparent. All cancers arise as a result of changes that have occurred in the DNA sequence of the genomes of cancer cells. Over the past quarter of a century much has been learnt about these mutations and the abnormal genes that operate in human cancers. We are now, however, moving into an era in which it will be possible to obtain the complete DNA sequence of large numbers of cancer genomes. These studies will provide us with a detailed and comprehensive perspective on how individual cancers have developed.

Cancer is responsible for one in eight deaths worldwide. It encompasses more than 100 distinct diseases with diverse risk factors and epidemiology which originate from most of the cell types and organs of the human body and which
are characterized by relatively unrestrained proliferation of cells that can invade beyond normal tissue boundaries and metastasize to distant organs.

DNA and RNA Vaccination
DNA or RNA Vaccination technology is not new. DNA vaccination has become the fastest growing field in vaccine technology following reports at the beginning of the 90’s that plasmid DNA induces an immune response to the plasmid-encoded antigen in contrast to vaccines that employ recombinant bacteria or viruses, genetic vaccines consist only of DNA (as plasmids) or RNA (as mRNA), which is taken up by cells and translated into proteins. The long term effects of DNA and RNA vaccinations on humans have not completely been studied however, which brings much controversy as to the future of this technology.

Celltem is a homeopathic regulation remedy designed to address cell metabolism at the central core, the nucleus. Homeopathic remedies in the form of sarcodes(Imprints of healthy tissue) have also been added to homeopathically induce favorable cell response on both DNA and RNA and its reparation according to homeopathic theory.

Top Endocrine Distruptors

4/5/2023

Picture
The modern world is full of toxic compounds. Nearly everything from the fish we eat to the water we drink is affected by modernity. Microplastics have made their way into the most remote parts of the ocean. Crops are sprayed with man-made pesticides to keep pests away. And, in some places, pollution is thick enough to cloud the air.

Many of these modern-day chemicals are known as endocrine-disrupting chemicals. They affect your endocrine system—an important bank of internal glands and hormones that help maintain processes like appetite, libido, sleep, metabolic functioning, and mood.

Let’s take a look at the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) “dirty dozen” endocrine disruptors so you can be on the lookout for them as you protect yourself and your body’s terrain.

Below, you’ll learn more about the endocrine system and why endocrine disruptors pose significant risk to your health and wellness.

Picture
What Is the Endocrine System and Why Is It Important?

The endocrine system controls and regulates complex activities in the body by secreting hormones into the bloodstream. Hormones are messengers that bring information to cells and help maintain whole-body balance or homeostasis.

When you think of hormones, you might think about a bad outbreak of acne when you were a teenager. Or a fit of sadness your own teenager went through last week. But hormones play an important role in maintaining your health.

Hormones regulate everything from your reproductive processes to your metabolic functions.

They’re produced by a collection of glands throughout your body. The major endocrine gland include your:
  • Hypothalamus,
  • Pituitary gland,
  • Pineal gland,
  • Thyroid,
  • Adrenal glands,
  • Thymus,
  • Pancreas, and
  • Gonads (testicles and ovaries)
Each gland is responsible for producing different hormones. For example, the thyroid, a butterfly-shaped gland located in your neck, is responsible for producing hormones that regulate metabolism and other important functions. The pancreas, on the other hand, is responsible for secreting insulin and glucagon into the bloodstream to regulate blood sugar levels.

The endocrine system and its hormone messengers have a say in nearly every important internal process. That’s why it’s important to pay attention to which chemicals are disrupting your endocrine system.

Picture
What are Endocrine Disruptors?

Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are chemicals that interfere with your hormone processes. EDCs can be natural or manmade, and they’re abundantly found in things you interact with everyday such as food, cosmetics, and plastic water bottles.

EDCs can throw off your endocrine system in a number of ways. Mainly, they:
  • Mimic hormones,
  • Block hormones,
  • Interfere with hormone production, and/or
  • Modify the body’s sensitivity to hormones.

Endocrine disruptors can play many tricks on the body. They have a hand in increasing production or certain hormones, decreasing the production of others, imitating hormones themselves, turning one hormone into another, binding with hormones, and interfering with hormone signaling.

Let’s take a deeper look at 12 of the top endocrine-disrupting chemicals and discover how to avoid them so you can keep your endocrine system in good working order.

Picture
ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR #1: BPA

BPA is a chemical that’s added to many commercial products. It was first discovered in the 1950s, though chemists didn’t realize it’s true versatility until the 1980s. Now, it’s commonly mixed with other chemical compounds to make strong plastics. It’s important to remember, though, that not all plastics contain BPA.

BPA is found in plastic baby bottles and epoxy resins which are used as inner linings in canned foods to ensure the metal can doesn’t corrode.

BPA can trick the body into thinking it’s estrogen, an important sex hormone. It has been linked to the proliferation of breast cancer cells and is often associated with obesity, heart disease, and early puberty onset.

How to avoid BPA: When possible, eat fresh foods rather than canned foods. Containers can be lined with BPA, though many companies are moving toward BPA-free packaging. Also, when possible, avoid plastics with recycling label #7, since many of these plastics contain BPA (though not all).

Picture
ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR #2: DIOXIN

Dioxins are environmental pollutants. They’re produced most often as a result of industrial activities. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), they have a highly toxic potential, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been hard at work trying to reduce the amount of dioxins let off into the environment.

Once dioxins enter the body, they’re absorbed and stored in fat tissue. Disturbingly, they have a half-life estimated to be 7 to 11 years. This means they stick around for a long time.

Dioxins disrupt the delicate ways that both male and female sex hormones communicate in the body. They have been linked to a number of diseases and disorders, such as lower sperm count in men and low psychomotor scores in babies in utero.

How to avoid dioxins: Dioxins contaminate much of the American food supply. Factory-produced meat, fish, milk, eggs, and butter are most likely to be contaminated, so you can cut down on your exposure by eating plenty of vegetables and organic products.

Picture
ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR #3: ATRAZINE

Atrazine is an herbicide product widely used on corn crops. It’s sometimes called the most popular herbicide used in the United States. Consequently, it’s also a contaminant of drinking water.

Researchers have found that exposure to atrazine can have a profound effect on sex hormone production. It can turn male frogs into females that produce viable eggs. It’s also been scientifically linked to breast tumors and prostate inflammation in animals.

How to avoid atrazine: Atrazine is extremely common in the agricultural industry. To limit your exposure, buy organic produce whenever possible and be sure to invest in a robust water filter.

Picture
ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR #4: PHTHALATES

Phthalates are used as plasticizers in PVC plastics. Since phthalates are not chemically bound to PVC, they often leach into food and air. Humans are typically exposed through direct contact and general environmental contamination. We ingest, inhale, and come into contact with phthalates over the course of our entire lifetime, including during intrauterine development.

Research has shown that phthalates can prematurely signal testicular cells to die. Though it’s normal for cells to die off in the body, premature cell death isn’t typical. Studies have also tied phthalates to significant hormone changes, lower sperm count, and thyroid irregularities.

How to avoid phthalates: Avoid plastic food containers and plastic wrap made from PVC (which has the recycling label #3. Cosmetic products also popularly contain phthalates, so be sure to buy cosmetics from a company that promotes phthalate-free personal care products.

Picture
ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR #5: PERCHLORATE

Perchlorate is a chemical compound that is both natural and man-made. It is a component in rocket fuel, explosives, fireworks, and road flares. Ironically, it also contaminates much of our produce and milk, according to EWG and government testing data.

When perchlorate enters the body, it interferes with iodine uptake—an important nutrient that promotes healthy function of the thyroid gland. If you ingest too much perchlorate, you can alter your thyroid hormone balance, ultimately affecting your metabolism and brain and organ development in infants and children.

How to avoid perchlorate: Buying a water filter is a good way to reduce your ingestion of perchlorate in your water source. Also, ensuring you have adequate intake of iodine in your diet may mitigate the effects of perchlorate on your thyroid.

Picture
ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR #6: FLAME RETARDANTS

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are flame retardants found in consumer products. They are so widespread that they’re used in everything from TVs to mattresses.

In recent years, PBDEs have generated concern because of their widespread distribution in the environment and their potential to bioaccumulate in humans and wildlife.

These chemicals can imitate thyroid hormones in your body and alter thyroid functions. They’ve been linked to hyperthyroidism and lower IQ.

How to avoid flame retardants: You can avoid exposure to flame retardants by wearing an industrial mask when you replace old carpet. Often, the padding underneath carpets contains PBDEs. You might also consider using a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter, which can cut down on toxic-laden house dust.

Picture
ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR #7: LEAD

You probably already know how dangerous lead is, but it’s worth reiterating here. Lead (Pb) is toxic to a variety of internal organs and has been linked to many health defects such as brain damage, lower IQ, hearing loss, miscarriage, increased blood pressure, kidney damage, and nervous system impairment.

Namely, lead disrupts the hormone signaling that regulates your body’s major stress system (also called the HPA axis). When lead affects your body’s ability to deal with stress, you’re more susceptible to immune function impairment, high blood pressure, anxiety and depression.

How to avoid lead: Lead is found prevalently in old paint. Particles are easily inhaled through crumbling old paint, so wear a mask if you’re doing home renovation.

Picture
ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR #8: ARSENIC

Arsenic (As) is something you might associate with a murder mystery or your favorite true-crime TV series. But arsenic is a toxin sometimes found in food and drinking water. Of course, if you ingest enough arsenic, it can be fatal. But many people unknowingly ingest small doses that lead to widespread, chronic health problems.

Arsenic is a hormone disruptor. Specifically, it interferes with hormone functioning in the glucocorticoid system that regulates sugar and carbohydrate metabolic processes. Disruption in the glucocorticoid system has been linked to weight fluctuations, immunosuppression, insulin resistance, and osteoporosis.

Arsenic exposure has also been linked to increased risk for skin, lung, and bladder cancers.

How to avoid arsenic: A trusted water filter can reduce your exposure to arsenic in drinking water. Also, since arsenic can be found in contaminated soil, washing and peeling vegetables is a good idea.

Picture
ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR #9: MERCURY

Mercury (Hg) is a naturally occurring, though toxic, metal. It is most often let into the air by burning coal. It can also be found in contaminated seafood.

Pregnant women are at high risk for the toxic effects of mercury, since mercury has been known to concentrate in the fetal brain and can affect brain development.

Mercury is known to have adverse effects on the adrenal glands, as well as the thyroid, hypothalamus, and pituitary gland.

How to avoid mercury: Eat sustainable, low-mercury seafood. Wild salmon and farmed trout are good choices since they contain lots of healthy fats without the risk of mercury contamination. Higher mercury fish include king mackerel, shark, and swordfish.

ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR #10: PERFLUORINATED CHEMICALS

Perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) include a variety of man-made chemicals used across many industries since the 1940s. They’re used to make non-stick cookware and are also found in certain textiles, leather, water-resistant apparel, rubber, and plastics.

People can be exposed to these chemicals through food, which is contaminated through soil, water, food packing, and processing equipment. PFCs are notorious for being resistant to biodegradation, meaning they easily build up in humans and the environment.

Researchers are still hard at work determining the widespread biological effects of PFCs, but it is thought that they namely affect thyroid and sex hormone levels in the body. PFOA in particular has been linked to decreased sperm quality, low birth weight, kidney disease, thyroid disease, and cancers.

How to avoid PFCs: Opt for pans without the non-stick coating. A well-seasoned cast iron pot is a wonderful replacement. Also, beware of water-resistant coatings on clothing, furniture, and carpets.

ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR #11: ORGANOPHOSPHATE PESTICIDES

Organophosphate pesticides were developed to target the nervous systems of insects that disrupt agricultural practices and crop maintenance.

Many studies have linked organophosphate exposure to brain development and reproductive defects, though they are still widely used today. Namely, organophosphates affect the way testosterone, a male sex hormone, communicates with cells in the body. It has been shown to alter thyroid hormone levels.

How to avoid organophosphate pesticides: Buying organic produce will help limit your exposure to all pesticides, including organophosphate pesticides.

ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR #12: GLYCOL ETHERS

Glycol ethers are man-made chemicals used since the 1960s as solvents and stabilizers in a wide variety of personal, household, and industrial products. They’re used in degreasers, adhesives, cleaners, dyes, inks, water-based paints, lacquers, perfumes, and cosmetics.

Some studies have linked exposure to certain glycol ethers to blood abnormalities and spontaneous abortion.  Research is also discovering that aerosol ether products may be linked to asthma and allergies.

How to avoid glycol ethers: Since glycol ethers are so prevalent, it’s hard to avoid them completely. The safest way to avoid exposure is to avoid products with ingredients such as 2-butoxyethanol (EGBE) and methoxydiglycol (DEGME). When possible, opt for natural cleaning products.

What is Naturopathy?

3/22/2023

Naturopathy is a philosophy which encompasses a view of life, a model for living a full life. The word naturopathy is a Latin-Greek hybrid which can be defined as ‘being close to or benefiting from nature.’” — Stewart Mitchell, Naturopathy: Understanding the Healing Power of Nature
Picture
A traditional, classical naturopath specializes in wellness. That is to say, teaching clients how applying natural lifestyle approaches can act to facilitate the body’s own natural healing and health building potential. The traditional naturopath does not undertake to “diagnose” or “treat diseases,” but rather recognizes that the majority of sub-health conditions are cumulative lifestyle effects, and that the underlying cause of what we call “disease” (or, “dis-ease”) is improper diet, unhealthy habits, and environmental factors which cause biological imbalances leading to a weakening of the bodies’ natural defenses and subsequent breakdown in health.

The practice of Traditional Naturopathy is not considered the practice of medicine and is currently legal in all 50 states.

The practice of Traditional Naturopathy is recognized as a common occupation at the Federal level (U.S. Congress 1928, 1929, 1930 and 30 Federal Court rulings between 1958 and 1978) and as such it is a profession protected under the 14th and 9th Amendments of the U.S. Constitution. Several states have also made this stipulation either by statute or in the Courts.

All disease (dis-ease) is a “lack of ease” or lack of homeostasis in the body. What Allopathic (medical) doctors call diseases are only symptoms of a greater underlying problem. Disease is nothing more than a manifestation of our bodies trying to correct imbalances. These Imbalances are due to faulty nutritional patterns, improper rest, stress management and other lifestyle considerations which over time can result in a weakening of the body. By the time disease appears on the scene it is very late in the game!

Our body tells us early on when there is a problem and we can either respond to these “messages” or try to suppress the symptoms the body uses to tell us there is a problem. You can take Tylenol, or other drugs, to suppress the symptoms and they will help for a while but, unless the underlying problem is corrected, eventually the symptoms will no longer be suppressed by these drugs and one will need to take stronger and stronger drugs to quiet the body’s message.

Eventually, if the underlying problem has not been addressed, the body will begin to break down structurally. It is at this time modern medicine is finally capable of diagnosing something is really wrong and offer interventions to fix the structure, but still medical doctors fail to address the underlying problem.

Naturopathy concentrates on identifying destructive aspects of the lifestyle in the early phases, when lifestyle changes can occur to bring long-term benefit. Before symptoms manifest and long before a diagnosis can be rendered, these destructive aspects of our lifestyle can be identified and corrected. Once corrected, the body automatically begins to correct itself. Diagnosing disease and illness is totally unnecessary to correcting the underlying problems which result in disease and illness.

A true healer does not waste his time concentrating on naming diseases but rather on identifying those underlying factors, which if not addressed, will eventually result in the manifestation of disease and illness. These factors can be identified and corrected long before it is even possible to make any diagnosis. Even after a diagnosis is made, the same concepts of healing used by Traditional Naturopaths are equally effective, because once balance is restored the body automatically heals itself!

Berberine 900MG Capsules

Areas of Research
Lyme’s Disease
Infections
Diabetes (Blood Sugar)
Ovaries (PCOS)
Acne (Skin)
Diarrhea from Clostridia Difficile
Leaky Gut from Clostridia perfringens & paraputrificum
Reduction of M2 Microglial activation

Insulin Resistance and Glucose Balance
Berberine, a botanical alkaloid from goldenseal used to control blood glucose in type 2 diabetes was recently tested in a study, activity and action of the mechanism of berberine were investigated in vivo and in vitro. In this study, insulin resistance was decreased after a five week administration of berberine by 46% to 48% respectively. Intracellularly berberine was found to increase glucose consumption (lowered plasma glucose) The insulin-induced glucose uptake was enhanced by berberine as well. Berberine exhibited no cytotoxicity and even protected plasma membranes in the cell culture! These results suggest that berberine enhances glucose metabolism by stimulation of glycolysis, which is related to inhibition of glucose oxidation in mitochondria.

In addition to the metabolic activities, In 1980, the hypoglycemic effect of berberine was found when berberine was used to treat diarrhea in diabetic patients in China. Since then, berberine has been used as an anti-hyperglycemic agent by many physicians in China. Studies have indicated that berberine is an effective insulin sensitizer with comparable activity to common glucose lowering drugs.

Anti Microbial Action
Berberine has a well-established antimicrobial activity in the control of infection by bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites.

Berberine’s Action on PCOS and Fertility
It has been widely known that women with insulin resistance go on to develop PCOS and men with the same condition will have lower circulating levels of testosterone followed by higher estrogen. Studies have indicated that berberine is an effective insulin sensitizer with comparable activity to common glucose lowering drugs. Reduced insulin sensitivity is reportedly a factor adversely affecting the outcome of IVF in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)

Compared with placebo, greater reductions in total testosterone, free androgen index, fasting glucose and fasting insulin were observed in the berberine and metformin groups. Three months of treatment with berberine or metformin before the IVF cycle increased the pregnancy rate and reduced the incidence of severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Treatment with berberine, in comparison with metformin, was associated with decreases in BMI, lipid parameters and total FSH requirement, and an increase in live birth rate with fewer gastrointestinal adverse events.Berberine and metformin treatments prior to IVF improved the pregnancy outcome by normalizing the clinical, endocrine and metabolic parameters in PCOS women. Berberine has a more pronounced therapeutic effect and achieved more live births with fewer side effects than metformin.

Berberine and the Gut
Several studies have shown that berberine may modulate the gut microbiota through enriching short-chain fatty acid (SCFA)-producing bacteria and reducing microbial diversity. This in turn inhibits dietary polysaccharide degradation and decreases caloric intake in the gut, which may improve energy metabolism and intestinal health; anti-inflammatory effects; and immune regulatory effects. Berberine has been also found to affect specific bacterial species both in vitro and in vivo, including Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Clostridium perfringens, and Clostridium paraputrificum. It may also improve colitis by inhibiting the growth of gram-negative intestinal bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Proteus mirabilis. Besides repressing or killing harmful gut bacteria, berberine has some positive effect on beneficial gut microbiota, such as Bifidobacterium adolescentis and Lactobacillus acidophilus

Benefits surrounding Clostridia
Berberine has been proven to be ground breakingl for treating different symptoms caused by Clostridia. It has been beneficial to diarrhea outbreaks and has reduced M2 microglial activation by increasing the production of butyrate. In Regards to neurotransmitter physiology, Clostridia toxins Inhibit dopamine B-Hydroxylase, which is the rate limiting factor in the conversion of dopamine to norepinephrine. These toxins increase dopamine in cytosol, toxic dopamine metabolites, and oxygen superoxide which in turn depletes the brain of glutathione and leads to oxidative damage. With the increase in toxic metabolites, brain mitochondria and neurofibrils are damaged and mitochondrial dysfunction occurs. This in turn damages neuronal Krebs cycle enzymes, neuronal mitochondria and neurofibrils resulting in increased damage to brain mitochondria.

Spotlight on Herbs:  Echinacea Purpurea

2/24/2023

Picture
As a result of much scientific research and many clinical studies, echinacea is now considered one of the best-known and extremely safe immune strengtheners available. This humble annual herb has been shown to fight bronchitis, colds, flu, infection, strep throat, and other immune and respiratory problems. Taking echinacea at the first sign of cold or flu can arrest the problem and shorten the duration of symptoms. In fact, Dr. Mahady, Ph.D., who assisted the World Health Organization in reviewing the world’s scientific literature on this powerful herb, reports that echinacea will shorten the duration of a cold even if it is taken after an individual has become sick.1

The mechanism by which echinacea strengthens immune function to counter bacterial and viral infection is remarkable. Echinacea contains polysaccharides which resemble bacteria, causing the immune system to regard them as foreign invaders. In turn, the immune system builds up its defenses against echinacea, increasing the body’s production of white blood cells, thereby becoming stronger and more capable of fighting a real bacterial invasion. Even after exposure to a virus, echinacea can block virus receptors on the surface of cells, preventing the virus from “taking hold.” Echinacea also normalizes body temperature, whether high or low.2

Echinacea polysaccharides also produce an anti-hyaluronidase effect—the ability to protect hyaluronic acid from being dissolved by a foreign enzyme. Hyaluronic acid forms a protective gel around cells to prevent viral penetration. In addition, echinacea contains a caffeic acid ester called echinacoside, which functions as a natural antibiotic, enabling the herb to fight and even prevent infection in much the same way as penicillin. Furthermore, echinacea contains fat-soluble substances called alkylamides which provide additional antibacterial and antifungal activity, as well as mild anesthetic effects.2,3,6

Researchers have confirmed echinacea’s ability to increase the immune system’s production of interferon—the substance which fights viral infections in the body—as well as it’s ability to increase production of T-lymphocytes (T-cells) and other white blood cells which fight bacterial toxins. In fact, scientists at the University of Munich found echinacea stimulates infection-fighting T-cells more than 30% in comparison to other pharmaceutical immune stimulants. Echinacea also stimulates macrophage activity to help keep the lymphatic system operating efficiently. Macrophages are large cells in the lymph nodes which locate, filter out and destroy foreign particles, bacteria and toxins in the lymph fluid—a process known as phagocytosis. Such immunostimulating activity enables echinacea to effectively protect the body against virus-related diseases, including canker sores, herpes and influenza.2,3

German researchers published a study in Planta Medica which demonstrated that E. purpurea increased viral resistance 80% in mouse cells treated with the herb 4 to 6 hours before exposure. Additionally, treated cells remained resistant for roughly 24 hours.  Another study, involving 180 individuals with flu-like symptoms or feverish upper respiratory infections, concluded that those receiving 900mg of E. purpurea root daily experienced significant improvement of cold symptoms over both the placebo group and the group receiving only 450mg of echinacea daily.3-5

Echinacea is a blood and lymph cleanser and has been shown to be quite effective against Streptococcus—a genus of bacteria which can cause gastrointestinal, respiratory and urinary tract infections, among others. Echinacea is also regarded as an effective remedy for abscesses, blood poisoning (septicemia), boils, chronic infections, diptheria, fungal problems, gangrene, gingivitis, laryngitis, malaria, meningitis, pyorrhea, sinusitis, skin diseases (applied externally for acne, herpes, and psoriasis), swollen glands, tonsillitis, typhoid, slow-healing wounds, venereal diseases and postviral fatigue syndrome, also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME). Echinacea is currently being studied as a possible treatment for HIV and AIDS.6,7

Recent studies show echinacea reduces inflammation, perhaps owing to the cortisone-like activity identified in the plant and its ability to stimulate production of adrenal cortex hormones. Echinacea also inhibits the discharge of fluid and other materials from cells and tissues, usually resulting from inflammation or injury.3

For individuals suffering from impaired immune function, recent research data indicates that long-term usage of echinacea can provide long-term benefits. Individuals are typically recommended to take echinacea for 8 weeks, followed by a 1 week reprieve. Furthermore, an extensive review of both published and unpublished research was conducted to determine the safety of echinacea usage. Results of the review confirmed that echinacea is safe for use by individuals of all ages, “from infants to adults.”3,8

Individuals with allergies to daisies should avoid taking echinacea, as some allergic reactions have been reported. Avoid applying an echinacea tincture directly to inflamed tissues: for throat infections, take the tincture with warm water as a gargle; for topical application, dilute the tincture approximately 1:6.1,5

Although controversial, the official German Commission E monographs for echinacea suggest possible contraindication in cases of “progressive systemic diseases like tuberculosis, leukosis, collagen disorders, or multiple sclerosis,” thereby suggesting the exercise of caution with any autoimmune condition. However, according to more recent research, contraindications in cases of autoimmune diseases may be questionable since beneficial effects in autoimmunity have been reported.5,8,9
