Hi Everyone, Jim and I had a very interesting thing happen today. We were out walking Sandy and found an injured hawk (not sure what kind yet). It had an injury to its right wing and couldn't fly. After making phone calls and going online to find out what to do about it, we ended up rescuing it and placing it into a dog kennel with a water dish and a warm blanket.
Tomorrow we will take it to our veterinarian who can x-ray its wing and determine where to send it for rehabilitation. The interesting thing, though, is that when I looked into the hawk's eyes, I saw a dark line in its right iris, but everywhere else was clear yellow. The story of how modern Iridology came about mentions that back in the 1800's a young man from Hungary found an owl with a broken leg. He noticed the very same thing I saw today: a dark line radiating out from the pupil, which relates to the injury on the same side of the body. I just thought this was a cool thing to observe and wanted to share this. Meanwhile we are sending lots of love to this little feathered friend and hope for a speedy recovery. Have a nice day, Vicki
